Paid plans add more space: Pro (2 TB, $9.99/mo) and Ultra (5 TB, $19.99/mo).

Storage & plans
VirtualDrive offers significantly cheaper paid storage tiers (2 TB at $9.99 vs Dropbox Plus at $11.99 for the same)
while including encryption and audit logs at every level.
The free tier is also larger than Dropbox's (2 GB) and Google's (15 GB shared across all Google services).
We do not scan files for advertising, we do not train AI on user content, and files are stored with
Cloudflare R2 and Amazon S3, whose data centers are SOC 2 Type II audited.
Yes. Free: up to 500 MB per file; Pro and Ultra: up to 5 GB per file.
The same limit applies on the web, iOS, and Android. There are no per-day upload caps on the standard
tiers beyond the daily traffic limits described in your plan.
Every file you upload counts toward your quota — both your personal drive and shared workspace
content you own. Files in Trash continue to count until you empty the Trash — nothing in Trash is removed
automatically. Files shared with you by other users count toward their quota, not yours.
Yes. Pro yearly includes a 7-day free trial for accounts that have not
subscribed before. The Free plan is not a trial — it doesn't expire, and you keep 20 GB and the full feature set.
Cancel a paid plan at any time from your account settings, and you keep access until the end of the billing period.
Security & privacy
Yes. Every file is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and protected in transit by
TLS 1.2 or higher. Access rules are enforced inside the database itself, so unauthorized access
is rejected at the database engine layer, not just the application. Every admin action is recorded with
IP and timestamp in an audit log. Full details on the security page.
Your files are private by default, and staff access is restricted. Files are encrypted in transit
(TLS) and at rest (server-side AES-256 by our storage provider). VirtualDrive is not end-to-end encrypted,
so access is controlled by policy rather than made technically impossible: staff have no operational reason
to read user content and our access policies prohibit it except where required to keep the service safe
or comply with the law. We do not automatically scan the contents of your files. Shared links that
people report to us are reviewed, and child sexual abuse material is reported to NCMEC as required by
18 U.S.C. §2258A.
No. The Privacy Policy explicitly forbids using customer files for AI training, model
fine-tuning, recommendation engines, or sale to third parties. We process your files only to deliver the
service you signed up for: storage, retrieval, sharing, and the search you initiate.
VirtualDrive is not currently offered as a HIPAA-compliant service. The infrastructure
(encryption, audit logs, access controls) meets most of HIPAA's technical safeguards, but we do not
sign Business Associate Agreements at this time. If HIPAA compliance is a hard requirement for your
team, please contact support@virtualdrive.us to discuss
enterprise options.
Yes. We honor the data subject rights granted by GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA (California) including
access, correction, deletion, portability, and opt-out of sale (we do not sell data). To exercise these
rights, email support@virtualdrive.us. We respond within 30
days. Full text in the Privacy Policy.
We would give every active user at least 30 days notice and direct download access to all
their files during that window. Files are stored as ordinary files in standard cloud storage — there
is no proprietary container format you'd need our software to read.
Apps, billing & support
Web (any modern browser), native iOS, and native Android. Files sync automatically across all
your devices. The iOS app supports Face ID and Touch ID, automatic camera backup, offline access, and
Wi-Fi-only upload mode. Both mobile apps ship without third-party tracking SDKs.
PayPal on the web, Apple In-App Purchase on iOS and Google Play Billing on Android.
Web subscriptions and app-store subscriptions are billed separately and at different rates (the
stores' platform fees). Cancel anytime from your account settings or, for Apple and Google Play
subscriptions, from your device's Subscriptions screen.
Apple charges a fee on every in-app purchase, so subscriptions bought in the iOS app cost more: Pro is $12.99/mo in the app and $9.99/mo on the web, Ultra $24.99/mo and $19.99/mo (US prices; App Store prices vary by country). The storage and features are exactly the same, and your plan works on every device you sign in on. App Store subscriptions are billed and cancelled through your Apple ID.
Open Settings → Billing in your account and click Cancel. Your plan stays active until the end
of the billing period — you don't lose access immediately. If you subscribed through Apple, manage
cancellation from Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iOS device.
We offer prorated refunds within 7 days of the most recent charge for first-time subscribers.
After that, you can cancel future renewals but the current period is non-refundable. Apple IAP refunds
are handled by Apple directly. Email support@virtualdrive.us
with your account email and we'll process eligible refunds within 3 business days.
Yes. Select any folder (or all files), choose Download, and the app builds a single .zip on
the fly streamed directly from storage. There is no size cap on the export. For very large drives,
export folder-by-folder to keep the ZIP under your browser's reasonable download size.
A developer API is on our roadmap but is not yet public. If you need early access for an
integration, contact support@virtualdrive.us and describe
your use case.
